Spring at the cabin

We are at the cabin for the first weekend in May...spring is here and as always lots of projects are in the process of getting done.  We brought out gravel stone in the green trailer to go around the sauna at the roof drip line to avoid the soil washing into the river.  I am gathering larger stones from the dirt road to frame it, keep the gravel in place and make it look more finished.  We are pleased with how it turned out.  We have lots of trees that fell down during the last big  winter storm..the clean up will probably take us all summer.
I will not let mike use the chain saw so our friend Mark will be here Sunday and will help with the big logs.
We have lots of campfire wood for this summer!  Fire danger has been very high so there has been no burning allowed.  After the huge rainstorm on Thursday it is better which is good as will have large piles of brush.
I have been doing many sewing projects..some baby projects for a baby that will surprise us in August as well as some fabric bowls.  This one is for my units remembrance of a nurse who took her own life...we are remembering her during mental health week later in May.  There will be many different ways the committee will deal with the subject but one is a drawing for several prizes..so I have donated two bowls.

I am sure many of you saw the giant moon the last few nights. Last night we caught it coming up over the trees as we sat around the campfire with some neighbors.  It was very large and bright and I am pleased that my camera actually took the picture.  Mike has fished Friday, Saturday and will this afternoon before we go home.  Dennis Carney and Patrick Kelly came out on Friday and fished the caddis hatch...the picture below with all the white dots shows the hundreds of caddis flies that were all over the place on Friday...looks like it is a flaw in the picture but not so.  Dennis had such a good time he returned on Saturday to fish again...it rained but they still had fun and caught fish.  So it does not get better than that for fishing buddies.
We are so grateful for the health and recovery of Heather after her emergency surgery last week for a fibroid on her uterus.  She is recovering well at home and we are pleased to report that after the doctor appt. on Friday  the baby is fine.  Thank you for all your prayers and calls of concern.  It has been a crazy April.
We think of our brother Mark every day, talk about him, remember him in various situations and try to heal. I know all of you are doing the same thing.  We send you our love and hugs.   Kathy and Michael

  1. I am glad that you had a good time together at the cabin, relaxing, fishing and sharing time with friends. Glad to hear that Heather is doing well and so is that baby. Good news is always welcome.
