June in Traverse City

It has been awhile since I have done a blog and June is almost over so I will recap our month.  Heather, Finnley and I started out the month with a girls weekend at the cabin while Michael and Patrick were out west fishing.  We had a great time playing with Finnley, eating good food, shopping in Grayling and had lots of laughs.  We went into Graying and had lunch at Spikes....a Grayling tradition.  Finnley loved the atmosphere and ate a grilled cheese and many cheerios,,that girl can really eat!!.  The mosquito's were terrible and that meant we stayed inside as they were swarming whenever we went out side.  Finnley was all sticky and gooey and  so we washed her in the sink...she loved it!!
Life is so fun at this age and every experience is a joy to watch...and laugh with.
First party on the deck with Madorski's, Smith's and Purvis clans.  No fishing that night but there has been some fish caught during the June Hex Hatch..several large fish for Mike and he is HAPPY.  I have not been out there yet to Hex fish as I have been working and had Finnley the last few days.  My time will come this weekend!!
Finley in a kayak for the first time...hope we can go for a float later in the summer
The turtles were out on the roads digging holes and laying eggs.  I saw several but this guy, a snapping turtle,  was right in my way in the road so I had to stop and chase him out of the way.  He kept going in circles so it was a challenge...they are so prehistoric looking!!
Michael, Patrick and brother Patrick were fishing in northeast Oregon mid June.  Patrick was in Boise Idaho for his job and was able to meet the uncles to fish for three days.  The floated the Wallowa River and even though it was high due to rain had good luck and caught many fish.  Lots of fun and I think tall tails of fishing adventures came home with them.   Great fun for all.`
I am heading out to the cabin tomorrow after work.  Michael has been out there for the last week fishing, relaxing and having fun with his fish friends.  We look forward to some family and friends to visit over the next week.  A beautiful time in Traverse City and the best time to enjoy the outside.
I do not have lots of Seamus Patrick pictures but this is a great one...ready to duke it out for Detroit!!
He is growing and thriving and starting to coo and smile...so adorable.
Hope all is well with everyone else's June...it is my favorite month of the year.

Mike gets Roasted

June first a group of Michael's friends had a surprise party to honor him and to share their best memories and stories.  It was a surprise and meant I had to tell a bunch of lies to get him there for the surprise to work.  So we went for a pre dinner drink to the Smiths cabin and found the group you see below along with their wives.   We laughed lots and had a wonderful dinner on the river.
Thanks to Paul, Dave, Rudy, Jeff, Gary, Geof and Ginty for a wonderful  roast of Michael and lots of laughs.
The group had this one of a kind leather  fly box made for Mike...it is beautiful and has his name on the back.
Mikes big smile tells it all...he was very thrilled and humbled by all the attention.
We had 4 trees planted around the tree house...they are doing wonderful since we have had tons of rain for the last few weeks.  They will grow quick and be good cover for the tree house.
I could not sign off without posting the same picture I always seems to send out...the view from the deck.  Can't help it as it is so beautiful and always a thrill to be there on a beautiful day.  We mowed and did some clean up work...always fun to do at the cabin.  Mike is heading to Seattle and then to Idaho for a week to fish with brother Pat and son Patrick.  I am sure they will have a great time and hope they catch lots of fish!!!
